Features

A profile that speaks our language

Your clan, where you come from, whether you speak Buryat: here it shows before you even say hello.

Profile feed: a card with clan, home village, languages and like buttons
Feed

Familiar swiping, your own people

Right if you like them. Left if not. Up if your heart skipped a beat. Each card shows age, city, home village, clan and languages, and how much traditions matter to the person.

  • Like, Pass and Super like. Swiped too fast? You can bring the card back
  • Filters by age, region, language, dialect and even zodiac year
  • You can only message people who liked you back
Clan search: Sharaid, Sharalday, Sharanud and an “Add your clan” option
Paternal clan

So you don’t fall for a relative

Our tradition is not to marry within the same paternal clan. MDating knows this: if you are both, say, Khubduud, the card shows a gentle note. The decision is still yours.

  • Khori, Ekhirit, Bulagat, Khongodor, Selenga Buryats, Mongolian and Kalmyk clans
  • The clan list follows the works of Nanzatov and Tsydendambaev
  • Your clan isn’t listed? Add it yourself. Don’t know it? Skip it and ask your elders
Choosing a home village: searching “Khorinsk” finds Khorinsky District
Home village

Find someone from home, even in Moscow

Every profile shows a home village, the land of your ancestors. It and your current city are chosen from 279,000 places, and you can type the way you’re used to: “Хоринск”, “Khorinsk” or in Mongolian.

  • A “people from home” filter: only those from your home village
  • A “Diaspora” mode for those far from home
  • Don’t want to run into people you know? Hide people from your area in your feed
Chat with conversation starters
Language and dialect

Your native language from the first message

Mark the languages you speak: Buryat, Mongolian, Kalmyk. Fluent, understanding or still learning, it all counts. And if you don’t know how to start a conversation, the chat suggests ideas based on both profiles, plus ready-made Buryat phrases with translation.

  • Buryat dialects classified after Budaev, plus Khalkha, Chakhar, Torghut, Dörbet and more
  • Conversation starters based on both profiles, and in Buryat with translation
  • A mutual like or a new message? The bot tells you in Telegram right away
  • The app itself speaks Russian, Mongolian and English
Eastern zodiac of the day: compatibility, direction, colour and advice
Eastern zodiac

The New Year by the lunar calendar, not January 1

Born in January or February? By our calendar you may still belong to the previous year. MDating counts your sign from the real date of Sagaalgan, the lunar New Year, and every morning tells you whether the day is good for meeting someone.

  • Lunar New Year dates calculated for 1940–2050
  • Daily compatibility, direction, colour and advice
  • And when things get serious, it suggests good days for a wedding
Events: Surkharban with “Going” and “Interested” marks
Events

Meet in the feed, see each other at Surkharban

Surkharban, Sagaalgan, community gatherings. Tap “Going” and browse the profiles of others who will be there. Now you have a reason to say hi.

  • A calendar of national holidays and meetups
  • A separate dating feed for each event
  • See how many people plan to come

Trust and privacy

So the whole village doesn’t find out

Incognito and secrets until it’s mutual

Incognito hides your profile from the feed while your matches and chats stay. You can hide people from your area in your feed, and reveal your height, job or family only after a mutual like. Only people you matched with can message you.

Privacy settings: Incognito and people from your area in the feed

Real people, vouched for by their own

Two people from your area confirm by link that you are real. No passport, no selfie holding a sign.

Matchmakers, like in the old days

Your mum, aunt or best friend can browse profiles and give advice. The last word is still yours.

Sign in with Telegram

No passwords, no email. Your phone number is confirmed with one tap and never shown to anyone.

Block means block

A blocked person no longer sees you, your profile or your chat. Reports are read by a real moderator.

Nine themes

Ulaan, Night in the Steppe, Sunset over Baikal, Turquoise and Sand, Sky, Wild Rosemary, Taiga, Ink and Tsagan Sar in the colours of Kalmykia. Each has its own dark mode.

The community in numbers

How many of us there are, where we come from and which dialects we speak. Only totals, never a face.

How to start

Three steps to your first match

  1. 1

@mdating_space_bot in Telegram. The app opens right there, nothing to download.

Name, date of birth, home village, clan and languages. Skip what you don’t know.

“The Magnificent Buryat”

Wherever I am in this world, Buryatia is always in my heart.

From Anna’s post, 2023

Anna grew up in Ust-Orda and has lived in Dubai since 2022. In her blog “The Magnificent Buryat” she shares, with plenty of humour, what it is like to be Buryat on the other side of the world, speaks her native language and reads the Eastern zodiac.

She launched MDating for those who moved far away or are simply tired of explaining in ordinary apps why your home village and your clan matter. Here you recognise your own people at once, and traditions need no translation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind MDating?

Anna Bagdueva, author of the blog “The Magnificent Buryat”. She grew up in Ust-Orda and lives in Dubai, so she knows what it’s like to look for your own people far from home.

How much does it cost?

5,000 ₽ for six months. You can look around and fill in your profile for free; the feed, likes and chat open with a subscription. Pay by card or crypto wallet via Tribute, and turn off renewal at any time.

Do I need Telegram?

Yes, you sign in with Telegram: no passwords, and only real people in the profiles. You can look around in a browser without signing in.

I don’t know my clan. Is that a problem?

Not at all, many people don’t. The field is optional, and if your clan isn’t listed you can add it yourself. A good reason to ask your elders, too.

I don’t speak Buryat. Can I join?

Of course. You mark your level honestly: fluent, understanding or learning. Many people are looking for someone to learn the language with.

How will I know someone replied?

The MDating bot messages you in Telegram when a like turns mutual and when a match writes to you. No need to keep the app open, and the text of your chat never appears in the notification.

Who can see my profile?

By default, all members. Any field can be revealed only after a mutual like, and Incognito removes your profile from the feed entirely: only your existing matches can see it.

Who is MDating for?

For Buryats, Mongols, Kalmyks and everyone who feels close to Mongolic culture, wherever they live.

Your people are near, wherever you are

Open MDating in Telegram and fill in your profile while the milk tea brews.
